River Spirit Golf Club’s Response to COVID-19
The current COVID-19 pandemic is an unprecedented situation that’s impacting every single one of us, in one way or another. We want to be able to offer our facilities at River Spirit Golf Club as an escape, a change of scenery, one of the few places people can go while keeping themselves safe and doing something they love.
River Spirit Golf Club is the perfect place to do that. The game of golf does not require any close contact, which means social distancing is still possible. On top of that, getting fresh air and exercise is invaluable to both mental and physical health during a time when we are limiting our movements.
We will be encouraging a no-touch game of golf this season. Instead of a handshake or a high-five after a good shot, how about a nod with some eye contact or even a bow?
Rakes for the bunkers will be removed and cups will be put in upside-down. This way, pins can be left in while putting. With this new arrangement, we encourage you discuss with your fellow players as to what will be considered holed (balls may bounce off the pin and not stay in the hole). It may not be the game that you’re used to, but it’s still golf!
While carts will be available, we’re encouraging guests to walk if they are able. This will reduce the risk of contamination while allowing guests to get in some exercise! Carts will be disinfected between uses. They will be one rider at a time unless two players arrive in the same car – they would be permitted to share a cart. We are also recommending that guests only handle their own golf equipment and avoid touching their faces with their gloved hands – it is still possible for germs to spread on gloves.
